50 YEARS AGO — Tom Ford sunk a pair of free throws with 22 seconds left on the clock to give the Brandon Bobcats a 69-68 home win over the Manitoba Bisons. It marked the first time that the Bobcats men’s basketball team had beaten their provincial rivals.

20 YEARS AGO — Ryan White scored two goals to help the Brandon Wheat Kings earn a 3-2 victory over the Winnipeg Monarchs in Winnipeg Bantam AAA Hockey League action.
