WASAGAMING — Jayne Troop is a win away from her first Tamarack golf tournament title but she created a mighty challenge to reach the top.
Along with teammate and sister Jody Bieber, she has to beat her daughter Kaitlin and Julia Reimer in today’s women’s scramble final at Clear Lake Golf Course.
“(We’ll) get our clocks cleaned, unless we’re really sharp. We’re going for blood though,” Troop said with a laugh.

Jayne and Bieber beat April Popple and Sherri Ferguson 4 and 2 while Kaitlin and Reimer needed just 12 holes to down Leslie Olson and Tracy Rutledge.
The siblings had to pull out of last year’s scramble — their first together — due to family reasons but came back with a vengeance. They were 2-under par in qualifying to claim medallist honours and stepped up with a couple of massive shots as Friday’s match got tight.
First, it was Troop, knocking one over the hill and onto the sixth green to 30 feet. Bieber switched to a cross-handed putting grip for the first time all week and drained the birdie bomb to lead 3 up.
“I’d been practising it on the practice green and I thought ‘Gee, that goes really straight that way.’ I’ve been not putting well so I thought I’d change it up,” Bieber said.
She followed that up with a dart on the seventh, stuffing the team’s third shot inside three feet after Troop smashed a drive into the middle of the fairway.
“We’ve been really ham-and-egging really well,” Bieber said.
Added Troop: “When I have a bad shot, she cleans up for us so it’s been really helpful.”
The final starts today at 12:24 p.m.
