Competitive Indigenous dancers gathered on Friday evening for the start of the annual Dakota Oyate Wacipi at Sioux Valley Dakota Nation.

A variety of talent and ages was on display during the evening, and Brandon Sun photographer Tim Smith was on scene to capture the event.
